What is the Owlet Monitor Duo 3?

It's the latest in high tech baby monitors, designed to help track the health & safety of your baby while they sleep. The sock uses established pulse-oximetry technology proven safe for babies, and the secure and encrypted data means only those you choose can stream video from the cam. You can view readings of your baby's heart rate and oxygen with audio and high definition video.

'The Owlet is a pretty remarkable piece of baby tech!

With the ‘Smart Sock’ there’s enormous peace of mind for first time parents or if your bub is unwell and you just need that extra bit of security knowing they are ok. It’s nice to have such a comprehensive view of the vitals and be able to view your baby’s live readings right from your device. I think ideal to use when babe is still pretty new so they get used to wearing it but it’s made of nice soft material too and pretty quick to put on once you get the hang of it.

What I like most is that you don’t have to use the sock for this monitor to still be top of it’s game. The Owlet camera just on its own is fantastic with great wide angle visuals and night vision. The mounting system means you can keep cables neat and out of reach in the nursery, but also clicks off easily if you want to travel with it. I like the simplicity of the room temperature monitor which helps you know your babies’ 'room is just right’ vs just a straight number giving you a quick advantage in knowing how to dress them in for the night or when you are checking in on them.

The app on our devices (you can share with both parent’s phones etc) took me a minute to get sorted so suggest doing this before you are in the witching hour and set up before baby is born or when bub is happily playing. Only thing to remember is you have to turn ON the background sound in the app and keep it running in the background so that it works while you use your other apps and phone. I found a slight delay with the camera image reconnecting when switching back between apps. Not quite sure what happens to background sound when you are taking a call on your phone though as this hasn’t happened to us yet.

My husband and I both had it on our phones while we were in different parts of house too which was great. One other adjustment for us was that you have to sleep with a phone ON to get notifications and audio. You can’t turn on ‘Do Not Disturb’ or airplane mode so you risk calls/texts/other notifications also waking you.

All in all, a pretty amazing monitor to help you rest easy!'

"We used the owlet for our 2nd child after the battery in the first baby monitor stopped working. The product has a really premium feel when opening up the box. Took a short while to set up the wifi but nothing too challenging. Post that it's been excellent. Great picture quality in the light and dark, and very handy to have access on your phone as opposed to having a seperate monitor. Only real downside is if you want the screen set up permanently you have to keep your phone with you - It would be great if it had the opt of a second monitor screen. We haven't used the sock much other than trying it out a few times at the start as we were fairly comfortable second child in. Saying that for a first child, or anxious parents I think it would be very useful.“
